Roadmap

Minecraft 1.21 Survival Roadmap

New world, no clue where to start? This is your start-here hub. Follow the four steps below in order — each one links to a deep, survival-tested BlockPedia guide — and you will go from naked spawn to a fully-kitted, automated end-game base without wandering into a 20-minute video.

How to use this roadmap

The four steps are ordered by what unlocks what. Enchanting and potions make every later step safer and faster; mining funds your gear; farms remove the grind; and the End is the payoff. Jump to any step, but come back here when you are stuck on “what next?”

🧭 Tip Bookmark this page. Every other BlockPedia guide links back here, so it doubles as the map for the whole site.

First 10 hours — what to do, in order

A focused new player can clear the early game in a session or two. Use this checklist as your spine; each row links to the deep guide that covers it.

Step 1 · Gear up (early & mid game)

Before you dig for riches, make yourself hard to kill and easy to upgrade. These three guides cover the systems that touch every later step.

Step 2 · Mine the big three

Now the money. Diamonds fund your first real kit, ancient debris upgrades it to netherite, and ore distribution tells you exactly where everything lives.

Step 3 · Automate your supplies

Stop grinding. Three compact farms cover the materials you will always be short of: iron, mob loot/XP, and food.

Step 4 · Beat the game & beyond

The payoff. Kill the dragon, then the 1.21 content and the End exploration that makes the late game worth it.

Frequently asked questions

What order should I follow the BlockPedia survival roadmap?
Follow the four steps top to bottom — Gear up, then Mine, then Automate, then Beat the game. Enchanting and potions make every later step safer; mining funds your gear; farms remove the grind; the End is the payoff. You can jump to any step, but return here when you are stuck on what to do next.
I'm a brand-new player, where do I literally start?
Start with the Enchanting Guide and the Diamond Mining Guide, linked in the Start here cards at the top and bottom of this page. Enchanting protects you; diamonds fund your first real kit. Everything else builds on those two.
Do I need to read all 13 guides to beat Minecraft?
No. To beat the Ender Dragon you only need Enchanting, Diamond Mining, and the Ender Dragon guide itself. The other guides — netherite, farms, potions, End exploration — make the late game faster, safer and more profitable. Read them when you want to optimize, not to finish.
Which guides give the best early-game payoff?
The Iron Farm and the Enchanting Guide. A 3-villager iron farm delivers hundreds of iron per hour with almost no materials, and enchanting unlocks Fortune, Protection IV and Mending that improve every tool and piece of armor you own.
Is this roadmap specific to Minecraft Java 1.21?
Yes — every linked guide is written and verified for Minecraft Java Edition 1.21 and newer. Bedrock Edition differs in several mechanics, such as villager curing discounts and mob spawning, so some numbers and steps will not transfer exactly.
How long does it take to go from spawn to endgame?
A focused player can reach the End in roughly 4 to 8 hours of play; a relaxed survival run is usually a few sessions. The farms and trading discounts in the early steps are what turn that from a grind into a steady, automatic resource stream.
