Minecraft XP Calculator

Minecraft’s XP curve is deceptive: going from level 29 → 30 costs more XP than 0 → 16 combined. Use this tool to plan enchants, anvil combines and XP farm sessions. Values use the exact Java Edition formulas.

The XP curve, explained

XP needed to go from level L to L+1 grows in three stages:

Level rangeXP for next levelExample
0–152L + 7Level 10 → 11 costs 27 XP
16–305L − 38Level 25 → 26 costs 87 XP
31+9L − 158Level 40 → 41 costs 202 XP

This is why spending levels early is efficient: enchanting at exactly level 30 instead of 33 saves a surprising amount of farming. It’s also why anvil costs of 6–12 levels hurt more than they look.

💡 Best XP sources Mob grinders (especially blaze and guardian farms) lead for raw output. For zero-build options: smelting banks, breeding, fishing, trading with villagers, and mining quartz in the Nether all add up fast. The first Ender Dragon kill drops 12,000 XP — about level 68 from zero.
